About me
Hi, I'm Laura! Thank you for visiting my webpage.
Let me tell you a bit about who I am and my motivation for my tuition business.
I graduated in 2016 with a first class masters degree in Physics with Astrophysics. I knew fairly shortly after starting at University that I wanted to teach. I got involved in numerous outreach events including BBC stargazing live and public lectures. I thoroughly enjoyed talking to people about science, and exciting them with some of the many wonders of our universe. I volunteered in a few schools while at University and then qualified as a Teacher of Science in 2017.

In addition to my time as a Teacher, I've worked with the Institute of Physics in a number of their projects. Their aim is to help inspire more young people to see their future in science and help them to feel that science isn't just for the fortunate few. My interest in making science more inclusive lead me to complete a course in the Science Capital Teaching Approach at University College London. You can read more about this here:

Later, I received Chartered Physicist Status from the Institute of Physics (IOP) in recognition for my work in schools and with the IOP. I'm currently studying a National Professional Qualification in Leading Teacher Development as I now work with Teachers and Trainee Teachers in order to support them to model and teach science in an inclusive way. The Science Capital Teaching approach aims to both inspire and motivate young people to continue to learn science and to feel that they are capable of doing so no matter what their background.
I'm an experienced Tutor as I've tutored for many years, starting when I was 17 years old! I've since developed my practice and taken on board all of my experience teaching students and teachers. I'm very passionate about building confidence and helping to nurture learners. I wouldn't be where I am now without having great teachers who inspire and enthuse as well as build knowledge.

My tutoring sessions are designed to allow the tutee to gain their confidence in their subject first and foremost by developing understanding and enabling them to achieve, gradually developing their ability at a pace that suits them.
