If you're looking for short term or long term tuition to support you in your studies, I'm here to help. I support key stage 3 and key stage 4 science, including biology, chemistry and physics GCSE. I also tutor AS and A level physics.

1. Free 30min initial Consultation:

Firstly, I will meet with the tutee/parent/guardian to discuss what support is required and I'll also give you a demonstration of what your tuition session will include so you know what to expect. This is a great time for me to get to know my tutees so that I can deliver a bespoke session according to their needs and wishes.

2. Subject Knowledge Audit:

Assuming you'd like to go ahead, I will send out a subject knowledge audit which is to be completed by the tutee. This is a very simple form which goes through the learning aims of different topics in science (or Physics if A-level) so that I can get an idea of current understanding. This helps me to plan so that I can target the areas of science/physics which are of greater need of support. If there are any areas of need that the tutee feels they need support with, perhaps help with homework, a particular project or exam preparation, I will adjust accordingly.

3. Book your first 1 hour online session:

Once all the above have been completed and the audit has been returned, you can then book your first session. You will be sent a short powerpoint presentation at least 48 hours before your session which will just provide you with a short overview of the session contents so that you can prepare and feel ready. Pre-reading or preparation is certainly not a requirement but you have the option to view the material prior to the session if you choose.

Session Outline:

Introduction ~10mins

Here we will review the PowerPoint slide together and talk about the contents and any queries that may arise. This will help me to gauge the tutees knowledge and understanding of the topic.

Teaching ~20-30mins

I will teach the knowledge for the session using a visualiser. Research shows that when learners observe worked examples of how to apply knowledge it helps them to engage and mentally digest the content. Learning from Examples: Instructional Principles from the Worked Examples Research. Supported Questions ~10mins

Tutees will have a chance to answer some questions based on the content of the session. These questions will feel very familiar as they will be similar to the worked examples and will act as a stepping stone to independent practice.

Exam Style Questions ~10mins

Finally, we finish our session with some exam style questions to help the tutee get a feel for how the topic may be examined to build confidence in their ability and understanding.
